Team Falken Takes 2nd As Kracker Fab Steps Up For Poorboy Racing At ULTRA4 Racing Black Hills Throwdown
STURGIS, ND – Highlighting the strong bond that Team Falken maintains among its teammates, Kracker Fab Motorsports switched team numbers last weekend at ULTRA4 Racing’s Black Hills Throwdown to represent Poorboy Racing, as the latter team’s driver, Sean McNamara, stricken by COVID-19, was unable to participate. Despite mechanical issues, the team took second place in the 4600 Class, helping Poorboy Racing maintain their points count and remain in the hunt for the national title in the ULTRA4 series.
Racing for Kracker Fab was Falken veteran Josh Atteberry, who substituted his Jeep’s normal number 4693 for Poorboy’s 4696 and managed to turn a last-place start into a second place finish.
“Man, we had mechanical issues right before the preliminary qualifying and it just looked dismal,” said Atteberry. “My team completed the repairs, though we still had to start the race from the back of the pack. However, things started looking up as the Jeep was cooking after we fixed it and the Falken Wildpeak M/T01 tires were really hooked up and we picked off the competition on our way to the front. I was very happy with finishing second.”
“Josh and the entire Kracker Fab Motorsports team deserve a lot of respect and kudos for what they did at Black Hills,” said Douglas Fletcher, Falken’s Supervisor, Light Truck and Off-Road Events. “Though the team isn’t in the running for the national title this season, Poorboy Racing is, and it was really amazing of them to put all that effort on behalf of Sean, who obviously got the credit for the second-place finish. It was incredible of them to step up and support their running mates.”
Atteberry, a Tucson, AZ, native, started racing motocross at a young age and he and his co-driver, Jack Gessner, have raced in the ULTRA4 series for years. Both also are career fire fighters.
“We are really proud of both teams for what they’ve been through,” Fletcher continued. “This is what Team Falken is all about – working together for the common good. Both teams have been great brand ambassadors for Falken Tires, the Wildpeak line and what our company really stands for in terms of pride and perseverance. I’m so pleased to be associated with all of them and look forward to seeing Sean back behind the wheel by our next race.”
The next round of the ULTRA4 Racing Series is at Crandon, WI, for the Crandon Classic, a combined East and North Series event on September 3rd. The ULTRA4 Nationals take place in Davis, OK, on October 15th.
