FAQ

FAQ

Though UHP Summer tires are optimized for dry conditions, recent technological advancements have helped manufacturers produce compounds that drastically improve UHP tires’ wet weather performance. Falken developed the FK510’s compound on a nano level, enhancing its ability to adapt to wet driving conditions. Plus, void areas in the tread pattern help the tire evacuate water from the contact patch, keeping the vehicle safely planted to the road surface. Wet performance is where the FK510 really excels beyond the competition, but keep in mind this isn’t an All-Season tire. UHP Summer tires prioritize excellent handling, which demands a tire that’s constructed with enhanced tread rigidity. This is generally accomplished by minimizing the tire’s tread depth, resulting in less effective water evacuation in standing water. So yes, the FK510 provides exceptional traction in the rain, but if you’re more concerned about your tires’ hydroplane resistance, we recommend you go with an All-Season tire like Falken’s ProG5 A/S.

The life of a tire really depends on your driving habits and vehicle specifications, and because the FK510 is a great fit for a wide range of today’s high-performance vehicles, it’s hard to say how long they’ll last on your specific vehicle application. Ultra High Performance tires are designed to prioritize traction and high-speed handling, something that requires a minor tradeoff in tread life. Also keep in mind that many sports cars come standard with staggered fitments (different tires sizes in the front and rear). This prevents drivers from freely rotating the tires between axles, resulting in more rapid wear. However, Falken trusts in the quality of our products, which is why the Azenis FK510 comes with Falken’s Road Hazard Protection and 30-Day Ride Guarantees.

Staying true to our roots, the Azenis FK510 was developed by our R&D group in Kobe, Japan and is currently being produced at our manufacturing facility in Shirakawa, Japan.

Falken's parent company, Sumitomo Rubber Industries, was awarded the 2017 Tire Technology of the Year Award for our proprietary Advanced 4D Nano Design. This technology allows us to work at the molecular level to create a compound that adapts to both dry and wet driving conditions. The result is a unique combination of strong dry traction and exceptional wet weather performance. http://www.falken.tires/technology/tech01.html

At Falken, we believe a vehicle’s performance is extremely dependent on its only connection to the road. Sports cars and high-performance crossovers are no different. These machines are built with impressive engines and added features that enhance both the power and weight of the vehicle. This additional weight and power calls for tires that can support it all, something a typical All-Season touring tire isn’t equipped to do. While touring tires are designed for a wide range of common vehicles, UHP Summer tires like the Azenis FK510 are built with high-powered vehicles in mind. This is why most FK510 size offerings carry increased load IDs and enhanced speed ratings, enabling them to support this combination of vehicle mass and performance.
