Falken Cleans Up With Three Firsts And One 2nd At Rounds 9 & 10 In Amsoil Champ Off-Road Series At Bark River

BARK RIVER, MI – Rounds 9 and 10 of the Amsoil Championship Off-Road Series saw Team Falken’s hard-charging Cole Mamer and TJ Ewert score a total of three first place finishes and one second during last weekend’s races at Bark River International Raceway.

Running in the Stock Truck Class, Ewert was simply unbeatable all weekend. Though he started Saturday’s race from the sixth position, by the second lap, he was in fourth and was in first with three laps left when he pulled away from the remaining field of 14.

“My Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires made a big difference in the control I have out on the track,” stated Ewert.

Sunday’s result was the same. Again, starting in sixth, Ewert worked his way through the top five to take third before the mandatory caution. A mistake by the leader at the restart enabled Ewert to take advantage and he jumped to first, taking a commanding 10-truck lead to the finish line.

“What a great performance by T.J. this weekend and this whole season,” said Stan Williams, Event Specialist for Falken’s Off-Road and Light Truck teams. “He’s been a great partner to Falken and has put together a third place and three consecutive first place finishes. Just an incredible effort on his part.”

California-based Mamer traveled to Michigan ready to win. On Saturday he qualified second, trailing the Pro-Lite Class leader by just five-tenths of a second, showing his truck was properly prepared. As Champ Off-Road establishes the official starting grid positioning prior to each event, Mamer actually started seventh, but at the drop of the green flag, it didn’t take long to show why he’s a top driver in the field. Before the end of the first lap he was in third, and shortly after, moved to first, eventually building a 25-truck lead with two laps remaining. While the truck slowed a bit after suffering a spark plug wire loss, Mamer still finished 15-truck lengths ahead of the field.

“That was pretty fun, I have to admit,” said Mamer. “The truck combined with my Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires really showed the competition that we’re a good match and could out-perform everyone else. I was really happy with what we were able to do and lead the pack of 17 other trucks.”

Sunday arrived, and Round 9 saw Mamer start in sixth, and by the mandatory caution, he was second. Both Mamer and the first-place truck were quickly pulling away from the rest of the field and as Mamer began to close on the leader, his truck again had two spark plug wires come loose.

Nevertheless, by this point, the two leaders were 20-truck lengths ahead and Mamer was able to hold onto second place.

“That was really weird,” Mamer said after the race. “I’m glad I was able to maintain my position, but with the loss of two spark plug wires, I couldn’t challenge for first anymore. It’s good to get that mechanical bug off my back and finish second, but I’ll really need to figure out why those plug wires are coming off. Nevertheless, I couldn’t be here on the podium again without my Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires and I’m so glad this rubber can eat up the dirt, especially on this very dry track.”

“It was another great weekend,” summarized Douglas Fletcher, Falken’s Supervisor, Light Truck and Off-Road Events. “Both T.J. and Cole had such strong finishes during these rounds, dominating their respective fields. Three first place finishes and a second. It was just a serious performance by both drivers and our Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires. Our tires did what they do best here at Bark River, which is a very high-speed technical track. It’s also a driver’s track and we had two of the very best out there representing our Falken brand this weekend.”

The final round of the Championship Off-Road Series is set for Crandon International Raceway for the World Championships, September 3-4, 2021 in Crandon, WI.
