Falken Tires Claims Six Podiums At Amsoil Champ / ULTRA4 World Championship Off-Road Races At Crandon Int’l

CRANDON, WI – The setting was perfect for the The World Championship Off-Road Races as the Amsoil Champ Off-Road series and ULTRA4 came together at historic Crandon International Raceway to deliver a fabulous weekend of racing that included five wins and a third place for Team Falken.
 
Starting Friday night, Team Falken Driver Justin Hall checked off another box on his bucket list by not only racing Crandon for the first time but leading his race wire-to-wire, taking the victory in the 4500 Class ULTRA4 race.
 
“This was a great win,” Hall said. “Crandon is one of the tracks I’ve always wanted to run, and it definitely lived up to the mystic that surrounds this incredible facility. They don’t call it the ‘granddaddy’ of them all for nothing. I just appreciated how my Falken Wildpeak M/T tires took on the challenge of this course and really held out to finish strong.”
 
As one of the weekend’s organizers, ULTRA4 combined three of four classes (4500, 4600 and 4800), and while Hall dominated his class, Jon Schaefer strapped into his RPM Extreme #4688 Jeep and also controlled his 4600 stock class, taking first place.
 
“I’ve had the pleasure of racing this track before, but this was an extremely challenging set-up,” Schaefer noted. “The course was very rough from the start, but my Falken Wildpeak M/T tires continued to perform flawlessly. We got it done, and we’re atop the podium. It’s a great feeling.”
 
“That was a great way to end the first day,” said Stan Williams, Falken’s Specialist for Off-Road and Light Truck Motorsports. “Our Wildpeaks got it done out there.”
 
Saturday was no different. With a full schedule of racing managed by the Amsoil Champ Off-Road crew, Cole Mamer, running his Falken-liveried #35, proved his experience with Crandon in previous races and championship runs paid off. From the moment the green dropped, Mamer rushed past 29 other trucks by what is known as a “land-rush start,” and never looked back. Showing he and his truck were the class of the field, Mamer pulled out a 15-truck lead. While the mandatory caution attempted to even things up part-way through, Mamer jumped right back into the lead at the restart, eventually taking first place.
 
“Obviously, I’m thrilled with my team’s performance today,” Mamer said. “Both the truck and my Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires were just dialed in. The Wildpeaks love to eat this Midwest dirt! We had zero failures, so I obviously figured out the spark plug wire disconnect that plagued me during my last race.”
 
By Saturday evening, both Hall and Schaefer took to the track again in their 4500 and 4600 Class trucks, respectively. Hall simply kept the momentum going, scoring his second flag-to-flag first-place finish.
 
“I’m so glad I made the 2,400-mile trip out here,” Hall added. “The Wildpeak M/T tires continue to amaze me, given what I’m throwing at them. They just keep performing. Everything was just set in place and I feel great about getting the two wins.”
 
Schaefer also ran strong. Although he got stuck briefly on Boulder Mountain, his Falken Wildpeak M/Ts pulled him up and over the top, enabling him to finish third in his class.
 
“Results from the intense two days of racing were phenomenal,” said Douglas Fletcher, Falken’s Supervisor, Light Truck and Off-Road Events. “The drivers were consistent in their performances as were our Falken tires. The final test is the Red Bull Crandon World Cup.”
 
And Day 3 brought further success to Team Falken. Cole Mamer’s truck immediately passed all competitors through his holeshot at the start and then drove to a commanding lead. While multiple accidents and course cautions continuously threatened his control of the race, Mamer’s confidence could not be broken, and he went on to finish first in his class.
 
“Honestly, I would not be here today without my team and Falken’s tires,” Mamer acknowledged. “These Wildpeak AT3Ws continue to get it done. I’m so happy to finish the Red Bull World Championship on top of the podium. Next year, I’ll be moving up in class and focusing on a new platform and a new truck, so I’m excited to finish on a high note and hope this carries forward to next season.”
 
Falken’s Fletcher summed it up best: “What a weekend we got from the Falken Wildpeak family. We wanted to come to Crandon and continue to make a name for ourselves among the Midwest short-course racing participants and enthusiasts, and I think we did just that with our six podiums, five first places and a third. Our Wildpeak line-up is showing why we have such a strong relationship with our drivers, not only here at the track, but among those who purchase our tires for their personal vehicles, whether they drive them on- or off-road.
 
“Clearly, we continue to use off-roading as a way to both test our tires and validate their capabilities – right here, in front of our fans, and then within the marketplace,” Fletcher continued. “Because of what we do at the track, we have proof that our tires are tough to beat and can handle what the conditions throw at them. We have the podiums and champion drivers to add to that validation, and we look forward to continuing our successes next year with Champ Off-Road.”
 
The final ULTRA4 races – the Nationals – take place October 15th in Davis, OK.
