Falken Tires Takes First And Third Place In Off-Road Races Cross-Country
LENA, WI / SAN BERNARDINO, CA – Competing in Rounds 7 and 8 at the Dirt City Motorplex of the Championship Off Road series, T.J. Ewart took his Falken Tire-stock truck to first place in Round 8 and third in Round 7, while on the West Coast, Driver Steven Olsewski and Navigator Tylor Frances earned third in the M.O.R.E. Racing Series at Glen Helen Parkway in the 2000 Class.
Ewart has been a staple of Midwest racing and competing at the Dirt City Motorplex is challenging, as the facility – operated by the Lena Motorsports Club – is designed to incorporate popular features from other off-road tracks within the region, including a split lane, tabletop finish line jump and Crandon’s famous hairpin corner. Ewart is one of Falken’s newest drivers and was out to prove he had what it took to compete, taking his stock truck from 10th place to the podium for third in Round 7 on Saturday, July 31st.
“The Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires really gave us so much forward bite, we were hooked up the minute the green flag waved,” Ewart declared. “Without any modifications, I had such incredible side traction going through turns and getting by the competition.”
Round 8 on Sunday, August 1st, saw even better performance. While “T.J.” started 8th, he again quickly worked his way to the front and grabbed first place with just two laps to go.
“T.J. was out to show the fans he was racing not just for himself but for the Falken Team,” said Stan Williams, Falken Tires’ Off-Road Event Specialist. “What a great run.”
“These Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires gave me everything I needed to get through the pack and take over the lead. I couldn’t be happier with their performance and where we stand today,” added Ewart.
Moving west to famous Glen Helen Parkway for the GG Lighting Freedom Cup weekend, after a season plagued with breakdowns, Olsewski and Frances were able to finish on the podium in the M.O.R.E. – which stands for Mojave Off Road Racing Enthusiasts - series. The R.S.O. #2019 truck suffered gremlins on Saturday’s preliminary, suffering a broken front shock, but the team was able to put the truck back to race condition and compete successfully in Sunday’s race, earning third.
“We consider that a great victory,” noted Olsewski, “after all the mechanical issues we’ve had this year. However, I have to add that our Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires have always performed flawlessly, giving us the incredible traction and performance that we needed all season. Falken has been with us through everything and they are a great partner.”
“We are so glad the team avoided that mechanical monster that keeps biting them and performed the way they did,” agreed Doug Fletcher, Falken’s Supervisor, Off-Road and Light Truck. “We all know that Glen Helen is a tough track – on every piece of equipment – and it’s great to see R.S.O. running so well at the end. The team has been a great partner with Falken for a long time and we’re happy for their finish.”
Next up for Ewart and Champ Off Road is Bark River International Raceway in Bark River, MI, August 14-15, while Olsewski and Frances along with M.O.R.E. will take on the PCI Race Radios 300 in Lucerne Valley, CA, September 25th.
